Supporting Local Makers

As a small family run business we understand the importance of supporting independent businesses, in particular those that are taking their first steps into a rather fierce industry. One of that ways that we do this is by offering space rental and commissioning through our shop on the outskirts of Barnsley.

Each year we open our doors to a small selection of local makers offering them a space to showcase their work and a platform from which to grow their business.

We are currently working with around six local makers whom are made up of an artist, wood turner, jewellery maker, candle maker and preserves maker, handmade knitwear specialist and a furniture restorer all of whom are local to the area. Our working relationship is strong and so it’s no surprise that we receive many requests for space, which, unfortunately we cannot always accommodate.

We would like to hear from any local makers that are looking for a platform as there is a possibility of some advertising space through our new website. We are currently investing a considerable amount of resource into our online platforms and by adding new products and services we hope to grow our online presence organically without the use of annoying adds and emails.

Demand for home grown product is strong as consumers move away from mainstream gift ware in search of that something different. The attention is quickly turning towards makers and their unique pieces.

Please get in touch if you would like to discuss ways in which we can support each other.
